‘The Cancer Council’s Relay for Life is more than ‘just a fundraiser. It is an opportunity to get together with your community and celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer and fight back against a disease that takes too much’
The Relay for life is unique event where teams of 10 to 15 of families, colleagues, friends – any one challenge themselves to take turns to keep a baton moving in a relay style. With the relay for life, you can be old or young, ages range from 1-100 and they all have fun. And the best bit of all is that you don’t have to be fit! You can walk, run, jog, skip, hop, and bounce, pretty much anything you want to do! (Just as long as someone is always on the track at all times!) The Relay for life is suitable for everyone and anyone can join in the fun! Even better, you can stay for the whole event, camp overnight, or just visit now and again to cheer your team on. On the day of the event, there is also free entertainment, prizes and ceremonies that help to make the Relay for Life so inspirational.
To join the team, each person pays a registration free which includes a Relay for life polo shirt and a yummy breakfast at the event. The relay is a fundraising event where team members are encouraged to raise heaps of money, and the cancer council website suggests that each person should raise a minimum of $100 each.
‘Whether you are a cancer survivor, a carer, supporting friends or loved ones, or simply wanting to make a difference, the Relay for life empowers everyone who participates!’
